IntroductionAt Ultima Laptop & Photo, WE LIKE LAPTOPS and now, CAMERAS. We service desktops, too, but due to our limited space, we prefer and specialize in laptop and camera repair. We have evolved since 2011 when we first opened our doors. Originally, we pretty much just did laptop repair. But in the intervening years, we included sales in addition to repairs and desktop computers to our repertoire. Due to the closure of Walters Camera Repair and Sales, as of January 2014, we added cameras, as well. So, now, we provide the "ultimate in service' on laptops, desktops, and cameras for repair and sales.
We have a rather small shop which is actually great all the way around. That’s what keeps our overhead low so we can keep our labor rates low. Laptops don’t crowd us, at all, but just a few desktops would require space we just don’t have. So, we PREFER laptops, we SPECIALIZE in laptops, and truly ENJOY working on laptops. And your laptop never leaves town. |

Finally, we are not corporate geeks. And we LOVE our customers and demonstrate it every day with a personal style of CUSTOMER SERVICE you may have thought was extinct. We are tickled pink when we can save you green and frequently that savings can be substantial. We take the extra time to find replacement parts that afford the best value for you. We are confident that you’ll be glad you chose Ultima Laptop & Photo for your computer and photographic service needs.
What Our Customers Think About Us
Ultima Laptop (An Unsolicited Testimonial): Wow, I was very impressed with the owner/operator (David Komarek)! I showed up there unannounced and he fit me right in. Friendly, and full of honest info. Did not try to sell me on something I didn't need--really listened to my situation (so unlike the big box stores). Good prices, honest labor charge. Works on desktops too. About Us
David Komarek - Owner |
David Komarek, owner/proprietor, began working in electronics in 1974 as a Radio Relay Equipment Repairman while serving in the U.S. Air Force. His service with the Air Force took him to Korea where he met Sue, his wife and mother of their two sons, Ben and Tim. Ben assists with the business in his spare time. David resumed civilian life in 1977 but continued working in electronics.
He expanded into the realm of computers in 1982 as a Systems Field Engineer with Burrough's Corporation. While with Burrough's, he maintained mainframe computer systems under the world wide Base Level Data Automation contract with the U.S. Air Force. His first personal computer was a Commodore 64. |
In 1986, following his stint with Burrough's and starting as a repair technician, David went on to become the Technical Services Director with The MED Group in Lubbock, Texas. While with the MED Group he was very involved in the design and production of digital electronic systems for medical equipment applications and, there, was first introduced to the Apple Macintosh personal and business computer systems. His first laptop was an Apple PowerBook 100.
Leaving Lubbock in 1993, he and his family relocated to Las Cruces, New Mexico where he opened the Student Bookstore, an off-campus college bookstore serving the students of New Mexico State University. The business closed in 2003, after which, David continued to do business in college textbooks for some time, buying and selling online through Ebay and Amazon affording him extensive experience in the new arena of e-commerce.
To make a long story shorter, this technical and business experience led him to open Ultima Laptop in July of 2011. Now, doing business as Ultima Laptop & Photo, to include camera repair and sales, the goal is to provide high quality repairs, workmanship and superior customer service at the most reasonable rates. This is the mission of Ultima Laptop & Photo.
